Clinical Pharmacology

Koichi TAKEUCHI, Ph.D., Professor
Reiko NOZAWA, Ph.D., Research Associate

The development of risk factors for lifestyle-related diseases is heterogeneous. One of the factors related to lifestyle-related diseases is vascular dysfunction. Our basic and clinical research themes are as follows:
Modulation of local blood flow by endogenous ATP:
A large amount of ATP is released upon stimulation of α1-adrenoceptor or hypotonic stress from the vascular endothelial cells. It is expected that ATP released from endothelium acts on the cardiovascular system and causes various physiological responses. Physiological role of arginine amidase activity from arteries and endothelial cells:
We found that arginine p-nitroanilide-derivative hydrolyzing activities release from rabbit arteries by the addition of dermatan sulfate. The enhancement of arginine amidase activities produced by dermatan sulfate depends on the endothelium. We are examining the physiological function of arginine amidase activities. Contribution to improving the outcome by the proper use of medicines:
We examine clinical studies in the pharmacotherapy of lifestyle-related diseases, and want to use it to establish the proper use of medicines.
